Did you know you have a right, an opportunity and an obligation to change the world? That was the topic of discussion on this week’s episode of Get High On Motivation. Did you know you could change your life and “the world” in three easy steps?
Step one is easiest, yet it gets avoided so much…. and that is to make a decision. It is more like a series of decisions. You must first decide what is can no longer be. Then decide to explore what options exist or what options would you like to create. Once all the options have been reviewed, the pros and cons have been weighed out, we can now make a clear (not really, but we have make a choice or we will be living by default.) Which leads us to the next step, committing to a decision.
We must commit to the decision. Making decisions is easy in comparison to committing to it enacting upon the decision made. How many times have you said you were going to do something? Or better yet stop doing something? I don’t about you, but…. I have some commitments to make, in order to honor myself. Honoring and valuing yourself will give you strength and comfort in making necessary changes. If you want to make some changes in the world you will need to have built up some resolve.
I spoke at a commencement for an Community Advocate Training provided by Council of Neighbors & Organizations (CONO) in Colorado Springs last night. Listening to the graduates talk about the issues they are passionately working on inspired me. These are local superheroes and heroines who have made a decision to change the community or world around them. The most challenging part about what they are embarking on is the fact that something about who and how they are is going changing in order for them to make the change they have made a decided upon and committed to.
This is the last step of the the process of changing the world. Yes, you have to change yourself first. All change you desire to see in the world begins with you. What do you want to change about the world Lovebug? If it is world hunger, go volunteer to feed someone or teach them to feed themselves through programs such as Cooking Matters. If you are upset about politics, get on the ballot! Encourage and support the leaders in your community. If you want a cleaner, take yo ass outside and clean up. Start a revolution!
You and I came to this world with a special gift that no-one else has. You are the one to make the change you want to see in your home, life, city, country and abroad. Throw on your cape and join the Justice League of CONO to destigmatize the criminal justice system and mental health in the minority community. You are not old and you can never be to young to make a difference. All you have to is make the decision, commit to it and begin the process of changing yourself. The time is here and the time is now. Let’s change the world Lovebugs!
Be happy. Be healthy. Be You!
