7 Guiding principles for Entrepreneurs, Teams & Masterminds.

  1. Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race. We have to build a team and honor our team. There is power in numbers. It is important to have a unified vision and be on one accord to create success.

  2. Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): Its up to you to define yourself, to name yourself, to create for yourself and to speak for yourself. You get to name your own business and define who you are and what it means to you.

  3. Ujima (Collective work and responsibility) To build and maintain communities together and to make our brothers and sisters problems our problems. Lend a helping hand to someone in need. Who is it in your life that could use more of your time and energy? Don’t leave them to struggle alone on their own.

  4. Ujamaa ( Cooperative Economics): To build and maintain our own businesses and profit from them together. Network and introduce people to each other. Share the information you have because we grow together.

  5. Nia (Purpose): To make collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness. You were born great and have a specific purpose. When we all bring our purpose together, it’s like bringing a bunch of light bulbs together. We need you and we need what’s inside of you.

  6. Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. Its your job to improve your family dynamics and your community. Be creative in what you are providing, how you offer it and how you talk about your products and services. We were all born creative. Use your gift in a unique way to transform those around you. Be who you were created to be and not what you were taught to be.

  7. Imani (Faith): To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. You have to see it before it exists. Don't wait for someone else to see the potential you have. Have faith in you!
